Orwell Park continues to send a very high proportion of Form VI leavers to a wide variety of senior boarding schools throughout the country. This is seen as a major strength of the School, and differentiates it strongly from its local competitors, many of whom simply act as feeders for one particular school. Some children join the Main School as Day Pupils and continue as Day Pupils throughout their time at Orwell Park.

Parents are encouraged to start thinking about their choice of likely senior school when their child reaches Form III. At this time the parent and child’s form teacher/tutor should meet and consider options. The Headmaster has regular links with many of the senior schools throughout the country and is in a position to advise on the academic standing of each school as well as possibilities for scholarships and all-rounder awards and the likelihood of any bursary support.

Choice of senior school is a matter for parents and pupils and Orwell Park has a deliberate policy of not becoming a 'feeder' for any particular senior school.

Reports on Orwellians moving on to their senior school are received by the Headmaster, usually after the pupil’s first term. These are informative, both in terms of how well children have adapted to their new surroundings and of how the senior school views former Orwellians.
