Drama

The discovery of life through imaginative play, the testing of new roles and the development of physical and emotional awareness is at the heart of all educational drama. It is our belief that drama will enhance the skills of communication while building self-confidence, expression, concentration and sensitivity. Above all it has to be FUN!

  • A strong culture of performance runs throughout the school and there is plenty of opportunity for pupils of all ages and levels to be involved.

  • Play productions for middle and senior pupils are run each year alongside musical events, revues, drama clubs, school public speaking and reading competitions.

  • The weekly drama lesson is for everybody and there are no stars, or, more correctly perhaps, everybody can be a star. It is a flexible feast where everybody can be involved and everybody can succeed.

  •  Improvisation, mime, role-play, poetry, play script or prose; the possibilities are only limited by the imagination. Imagination and self-discipline is embedded in all the pupils do.

  • Pupils are encouraged to learn from each other, to build on their own strengths as well as working co-operatively within a team.

  • Drama is also seen as a medium for the pupil hesitant about the power of the pen to taste success and for this to act as a springboard into other areas of the curriculum.
