BOARDING ARRANGEMENTS AT WEEK ENDS

Orwell Park School caters for full boarders, weekly boarders, part-time boarders and day pupils!  The School week operates from Monday to Saturday with many children going home to parents, friends or guardians on Saturday afternoon, returning either on Sunday evening or 8.00 a.m. Monday morning.  Every weekend there is a core of children who stay at School, and full provision is made for them with a variety of activities available.  Several foreign pupils often go home to stay with one of their school friends.

During the term there is a Half term holiday of one week and either 1 or 2 Long Weekends when the children go home at 3.30 p.m. on the Friday returning on either Monday at 7.00 p.m. (Boarders) or Tuesday morning (Day pupils).  During these holiday times, the School is closed and there is no provision made for children to remain at the School. 

GUARDIAN

The School insists that all overseas pupils have a UK guardian in place for the duration of pupil’s time at Orwell. This person may be a family member, family friend, or appointed guardian.   In reality, the guardian may only be required to help out when the family are unable to take their child out for the occasional weekend outing/Half term holiday or Long Weekend holidays.  Obviously, if the guardian wishes to be more pro-active by attending concerts/lectures/matches, they would be more than welcome to attend.

The School has a policy that guardians must be responsible for all pupils over periods when the School is closed at half terms/long weekend. The School will help find a suitable family for their child should there be extenuating circumstances, however past experience has shown that the appointment of a guardian is essential.

GUARDIAN AGENCIES

The School has links with a variety of guardian agencies available, and many are registered with an organisation called Aegis UK, which acts as a self-regulatory umbrella for these agencies.  For information, their website is:  www.aegisuk.net

Transport links are particularly good. There are rail services to London from Ipswich (Travel time one hour),  and Stansted airport is just over an hour away. The School has a driver who can take pupils to and from the airport.
