OrWellbeing

At Orwell Park, we are committed to fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment where both pupils and staff feel safe, valued, and supported in their mental health and wellbeing. We believe wellbeing is not an add-on but a thread woven through every aspect of school life, grounded in the belief that everyone can grow and improve with effort and support.

Our approach is guided by our school values: integrity, kindness, spirit, courage, collaboration and respect for others - and aims to build emotional intelligence, resilience, and confidence in every child. Through the OrWellbeing initiative, we ensure that wellbeing and growth mindset principles are embedded in the curriculum, culture, and daily experiences of all members of our community.

Girls on Board

At Orwell Park, we use the Girls on Board approach to help girls navigate the complexities of friendships with greater empathy, confidence, and independence-empowering them to find their own solutions in a safe, supported environment.

Working with Boys

We use the Working with Boys programme to support boys in developing emotional literacy, respectful relationships, and a strong sense of personal responsibility within a safe and inclusive environment.

Forest School

Our onsite haven for wellbeing!

The numerous benefits of Forest School are well documented, from the impact of Forest School on wellbeing, to the wider focus on sustainable futures that interaction with the outside world brings. Building a relationship with the outdoors from a young age is not only proven to improve mental health, but also key to helping children understand how to care for the world around them. Forest School at Orwell Park creates a fun environment where children are supported to take risks, to make creative connections, and to develop new skills that support their learning back in the classroom. During weekly Forest School sessions, all children in the Pre-Prep take part in activities such as cooking, bug hunting, den building, using tools to create wooden objects, and a wide range of games. Core aims of Forest School sessions are to provide child-centred learning opportunities which promote autonomous, independent learners; Forest School is a philosophy rather than a physical space, and these transferable skills can be seen across lessons in our Pre-Prep learners. The beautiful woodland setting at Orwell Park provides the perfect backdrop to inspire our children, who will become the policy makers of the future.
