Orwell Park School is proud to offer a range of Year 7 scholarship opportunities designed to recognise exceptional talent, nurture potential, and celebrate pupils who demonstrate commitment, curiosity, and character. Scholarships are available across several areas of school life.  Successful candidates will benefit from a vibrant community where their strengths are encouraged to flourish.

  • Scholarship Assessment Day – Saturday 28th February – by invitation by 18th February

Available Scholarships 

  • Academic Scholarship – awarded to pupils who show outstanding intellectual curiosity, strong reasoning skills, and a consistent record of high academic achievement. 

  • Art and/ or Design & Technology Scholarship – celebrating pupils with artistic flair, originality, technical skill, and a passion for creative design. 

  • Drama Scholarship – for pupils who show strong performance skills, creativity, confidence, and a commitment to the dramatic arts. 

  • Music Scholarship – for pupils with notable musical ability, enthusiasm for performance, and a willingness to contribute to the musical life of the school.  

  • Sport Scholarship – recognising pupils who demonstrate sporting talent, teamwork, and a positive attitude across a range of disciplines. 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Year 7 scholarships for September 2026 are open to both current Orwell Park pupils and external applicants. We welcome applications from children who demonstrate strong potential and enthusiasm in one or more areas of talent.  

  • Yes. Current Year 6 pupils are actively encouraged to apply, and scholarships recognise progress, commitment and developing talent during a pupil’s time at Orwell Park.  

  • Yes, scholarship applications are available to students from overseas who are looking for entry into Year 7 through to the end of Year 8.  

  • We look for pupils who demonstrate natural ability and potential, a commitment to developing their skills, curiosity, confidence and a positive attitude, alongside a desire to contribute fully to school life.  

  • Assessments are supportive and age-appropriate. Depending on the scholarship category, this may include written or practical tasks, group activities, performances, portfolios or demonstrations, and interviews.  

    The invitation to the Assessment Day will confirm what to bring, the activities your child will take part in, the relevant timings and anything further you need to know. 

  • No specific preparation is required. Pupils are encouraged to continue enjoying their chosen subject, practise regularly where appropriate, and bring examples of recent work or achievements if requested.  

  • Families should complete the Year 7 scholarship application form and submit it by the deadline as follows.  

  • Scholarships are available in the following categories: Academic; Art and/or Design & Technology; Drama; Music; and Sport. Pupils may apply for a maximum of two categories where appropriate. 

  • Scholarship awards are 10% of school fees (excluding VAT). Additional bursarial support can be discussed on a discretionary basis.  Please contact the Admissions Team to discuss. 

    We particularly want to encourage pupils with outstanding talent who otherwise might not apply to Orwell, to help them realise their ambitions. 

    Additional tuition may be made available to families subject to need, including LAMDA, music and sports coaching.   

  • Year 7 and 8 pupils benefit from exceptional preparation for senior school entry.  We have a strong record of scholarship success at leading senior schools, inspirational teaching, extensive co-curricular opportunities within 110 acres of grounds, and offer flexible boarding options.  

  • Not being awarded a scholarship does not affect the offer of a place. Pupils who do not receive scholarships still thrive and achieve excellent senior school outcomes.  

  • The Admissions Team is always happy to advise families and current parents. Early conversations are encouraged to ensure the right pathway for each child.
