Rosslyn Park 7s Victory for OPS!

For the first time, Orwell Park entered a team into the internationally known Rosslyn Park 7s competition, which has been running since 1939. Held in Roehampton, South West London, the 62 Prep School teams were split into ten groups with a round robin competition ensuing. As it was a festival, there were no outright winners, but everyone was keeping an eye on the other teams.

The Orwell Park team started with a strong performance against St Hugh's before a physical encounter against Prestfelde which resulted in another victory. The boys went on to defeat St John's Beaumont, Sevenoaks and Terrington Hall and ended the day having scored 185 points and conceding only two tries (ten points), both of which being the best showings from across all the prep school teams.

Mr Brunt commented:

As ever, the boys showed unity, determination, skill and courage in equal measure and they continue to flourish on the rugby field.

A large parental contingent and an onlooking Mr and Mrs Brown were suitably pleased and despite some very wet weather and muddy kit, everyone went home happy after a great day in which the boys' performed superbly and their eyes were opened to the huge world of school rugby at a famous and monumental event.

Next up is the Northampton Saints' 7s Finals Day in April when the boys will be really tested and it's going to be exciting to see how they get on!

The Rugby Paper, a national paper which comes out weekly and talks about all things rugby, normally internationals mentioned the Orwell Park teams achievements on the day, well done boys!
