We Would Love to Welcome You to Orwell Park

The best way to experience our independent school in Suffolk is to see it for yourself.
We would love for you to visit us in person but we understand this isn't always possible. Whether you live outside the UK or an online meeting works best for you, the Admissions team would be happy to organise this.
Each term, there is an opportunity for families considering Orwell to attend an Open Morning. This is the perfect chance to meet the Head, take a tour with a Year 8 pupil and have all your questions answered.
Complete the Enquiry Form or get in touch with the Admissions team to book a tour of the School. We usually allow 1.5 hours for a tour and meeting with the Head.

Each pupil’s English proficiency is assessed on entry to ensure appropriate support from the outset.

Tailored EAL lessons focus on building confidence, fluency and accuracy in spoken and written English.

Teachers adapt lessons to support language development alongside subject learning.

Key subject-specific vocabulary is explicitly taught and reinforced.

Language development is closely monitored, with support adapted as pupils progress.

Learning in a new country is a hugely exciting opportunity, but we understand that it can also bring challenges for both children and their families.
Our dedicated staff provide close oversight and sensitive support, particularly as pupils adjust to a new culture, routine and school environment. We recognise that home sickness is a natural part of settling in, and children are given regular check-ins, reassurance and encouragement to help them grow in confidence and feel fully part of the school community.
There is strong collaboration between academic staff, tutors and the boarding team, creating a joined-up approach to each child’s care and education. Mrs Barrado, our Head of EAL, works closely with the Boarding team and Tutors to ensure that every overseas pupil is Supported academically, socially and emotionally. This clear and consistent pastoral framework allows parents to feel confident that their child is known, cared for and encouraged to flourish at Orwell Park.
