Pastoral Care

Learning in a new country is a hugely exciting opportunity, but we understand that it can also bring challenges for both children and their families.

Our dedicated staff provide close oversight and sensitive support, particularly as pupils adjust to a new culture, routine and school environment. We recognise that home sickness is a natural part of settling in, and children are given regular check-ins, reassurance and encouragement to help them grow in confidence and feel fully part of the school community.

There is strong collaboration between academic staff, tutors and the boarding team, creating a joined-up approach to each child’s care and education. Mrs Barrado, our Head of EAL, works closely with the Boarding team and Tutors to ensure that every overseas pupil is Supported academically, socially and emotionally. This clear and consistent pastoral framework allows parents to feel confident that their child is known, cared for and encouraged to flourish at Orwell Park.
