The School Day
At Orwell Park, the school day is carefully structured to provide a balance of academic learning, enrichment opportunities and flexibility for families.
Reception – Year 2
Pupils arrive at the Pre-Prep Reception by 8:15am.
8:00am - 8:15am - Classrooms open, arrival
12:30pm - 1:25pm - Lunch Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
12:00pm - 12:55pm - Lunch Wednesday
3:30pm - End of lessons, home time
3:30pm - 5:00pm - Evening Explorers
(After School Club - no additional charge)
5:00pm - 6:30pm - Late Stay, including supper
(bookable in advance, additional charges apply)
Prep
Pupils arrive at the Main Reception/North Hall before 8:00am, ready for registration and the start of lessons.
Years 3 & 4

Bus Routes
Orwell Park operates a mini-bus service for those pupils who live further afield or whose parents commute to their places of work.
The School employs reliable, regular drivers who are known to both parents and children alike and the bus will arrive in time for registration in the Main School at 8.00am.
Currently, there are two routes:
A12 North (Yoxford, Friday Street, Wickham Market, Woodbridge)
A12 South (Marks Tey, Colchester, East Bergholt)
Further routes may be available on request, subject to demand.
Where Mealtimes Matter
Mealtimes at Orwell Park are an important and enjoyable part of the school day. We take great pride in providing freshly prepared, nutritious meals that children genuinely look forward to.
Our chefs create a wide variety of balanced, home-cooked dishes using high-quality ingredients, with a strong emphasis on locally sourced produce wherever possible. In fact, some of our vegetables are grown on land that was once part of the original Orwell Park estate—something that adds a special connection between our pupils and their environment.
We work closely with carefully selected suppliers who meet all Food Standards Agency guidelines, and we regularly review their practices to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
We are also committed to inclusivity at every table. Children with specific dietary requirements are thoughtfully catered for, ensuring they feel just as included as their peers.
Pupils themselves play an active role through our Food Committee, which meets regularly to share ideas, give feedback and help shape the dining experience. This ensures that mealtimes continue to reflect the tastes and preferences of the children we serve.At Orwell Park, we believe that shared meals not only nourish growing bodies but also foster community, independence and a lifelong appreciation of good food.

Wraparound Care at Orwell Park
Orwell Park offers a flexible Wraparound Care Programme for every year group, designed to support busy families and provide pupils with a safe, happy and engaging start and end to each school day, including Saturdays
