These internationally recognised qualifications represent an important milestone in each pupil's language-learning journey, demonstrating their hard work, determination and growing confidence in English.

While Cambridge English examinations provide an important measure of achievement, they form just one part of the comprehensive support offered by the EAL Department. The department's primary aim is to ensure that every pupil can fully access the Common Entrance curriculum while developing the language, academic and communication skills needed to thrive across all areas of school life.

Through carefully planned teaching, targeted intervention and close collaboration with colleagues across the school, the EAL team supports pupils in reaching their full academic potential while fostering confidence and independence in their learning.

This year also saw exceptional success in the classroom, with all Year 8 EAL pupils achieving outstanding Common Entrance results. Their achievements highlight the impact of sustained language development alongside high-quality classroom support and personalised guidance.

At the heart of the department's work is a strong commitment to the wellbeing and development of every child. Alongside academic support, pupils benefit from dedicated pastoral care both inside and outside the classroom, helping them feel valued, understood and confident as they navigate school life. Whether supporting a pupil's transition into boarding, developing spoken English skills or providing encouragement during challenging moments, the department strives to create an environment where every child feels a genuine sense of belonging.

Krystel Barrado, Head of EAL, said:

"Achieving a 100% Cambridge English pass rate for the fifth consecutive year is a wonderful accomplishment and one that reflects the hard work, resilience and determination of our pupils. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved, not only in their examinations but also in their wider academic and personal development. Our goal is always to help every pupil feel confident, supported and able to succeed across all aspects of school life. These results, together with the outstanding Common Entrance performance of our Year 8 pupils, are a testament to what can be achieved when high expectations are matched with personalised support and genuine care."

The EAL Department at Orwell Park School congratulates all pupils on their achievements and looks forward to supporting future cohorts as they continue to build their confidence, develop their skills and flourish both academically and personally.
