As Orwell Park School starts an exciting new academic year, the school is delighted to welcome Alex McCullough as Head, together with his wife Helen as a Teaching Assistant in the Pre Prep.

Bringing extensive experience from the independent education sector, as well as service as an Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspector, Alex joins Orwell Park with a strong commitment to academic excellence, pastoral care and the development of every child.

Alex's vision builds on Orwell Park's proud heritage and its position within the Benenden Family of Schools, while ensuring pupils are equipped with the confidence, adaptability and character needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. He is particularly passionate about the transformative Years 6 to 8 journey, recognising the importance of these formative years in preparing pupils for senior school and beyond.

Under Alex's leadership, Orwell Park will continue to champion a broad educational experience, combining academic ambition with outstanding opportunities in sport, the creative arts, leadership and co-curricular activities. Recent developments, including the OrWellbeing Hub, enhanced boarding provision and the ASPIRE enrichment programme, reflect the school's ongoing commitment to supporting pupils' wellbeing, resilience and personal growth.

A strong sense of community is central to Alex's approach. He is committed to fostering meaningful partnerships between pupils, staff and families, ensuring every child feels supported, valued and inspired to achieve their full potential.
